Well weeks have past and much cold weather has come and gone and come back again!
Praise God for His continual work of grace at the nursing home! Yesterday was the first day that we started out Tuesday afternoon church services. The Lord Jesus Christ is so merciful and graciously working all things together for the good of those who love Him.
The nursing home has recently hired a new chaplain. Two chaplains ago there was a Catholic nun and the previous was a woman that is a member at a Christian Church in Louisville. To say the least, there were major concerns for both regarding the gospel that they believed and the spiritual state of their souls. Yesterday as I showed up for our first service I was introduced to a man by the name of Corey. He was well dressed with nicely framed glasses. I learned that he was the new chaplain that the nursing home had hired. The activity director said that I was a seminary student, to which Corey asked, "What seminary do you go to?" Our conversation took off and we learned that we both attend the same school!
What a great joy it was to hear this news! God in His sovereinty had placed another brother there in the nursing home who will be able to be a light in the midst of so much spiritual darkness.
The church service began by us singing 5 hymns and then I preached from Galatians 1:1-5! Lord willing for the next months I will be preaching through this wonderful book! To be able to teach the people there that the righteousness that we must have to stand before God is only obtained through faith in Jesus Christ, apart from works of the Law!
Be praying for Corey as he will no doubt face many challenges spiritually at the nursing home. And do give thanks to the Lord, for He is worthy of praise!
